These blog and media features cover all 80+ events that New Visions of Tomorrow has organized and staffed since late 2011. 

2014 Winter Skating Event

New Visions of Tomorrow coordinated the annual winter ice skating event alongside Vista Center this year at the Winter Lodge (Palo Alto). Over 30 NVoT members were on hand to make sure that over 200 visually impaired youth and family members had companions and received guidance as they skated. Additionally, volunteers on hand helped to serve food and guide skaters to different areas of the skating arena.

2014 Audio Movie Trip

New Vision of Tomorrow provided blind and visually-impaired kids with an audio movie trip. More than 35 kids, including their families, went to the Century 20 theaters and watched Big Hero 6 with descriptive narration, allowing the kids to understand what was going on in the movie. Afterwards, NVoT volunteers and the kids got a meal at Pizza My Heart.

2014 Stanford vs. Texas Women's Basketball Fundraiser

New Visions of Tomorrow was in charge of one concession stand during Stanford's women's basketball game against Texas. Volunteers were in charge of preparing and selling food  and drinks to the audience (Cardinal Fast Break), with all proceeds going to our organization. Our successful fundraising will support nonprofits for the visually impaired, as well as our future activities in coordinating and hosting future volunteer events.

2014 FLL Middle School Robotics Qualifier Fundraiser

New Visions of Tomorrow helped hand out snacks for the robotics members participating in the FLL Qualifier at Blach Middle School. In the competition, robotics teams used their knowledge of mechanics and computers to address real world problems. One project, for example, focused on helping the blind and visually impaired decrease their dependency on a trainer for activities such as running or swimming by using a system of emitters and receivers to direct the athlete. Our successful fundraising will support nonprofits for the visually impaired, as well as our future activities in coordinating and hosting future volunteer events.

2014 Stanford vs. Oregon State Football Fundraiser

New Visions of Tomorrow was in charge of one of the concession stands during Stanford's football game against Oregon State. Volunteers were in charge of preparing and selling food and drinks to the audience, with all proceeds going to our organization. Our successful fundraising will support nonprofits for the visually impaired, as well as our future activities in coordinating and hosting future volunteer events.

2014 Stanford Women's Volleyball: Duke vs. Penn Fundraiser

New Visions of Tomorrow was in charge of two concession stands during Stanford's women's volleyball invitational between Duke and Penn. Volunteers were in charge of preparing and selling food and drinks to the audience (The Dog House and Cardinal Fast Break), with all proceeds going to our organization. Our successful fundraising will support nonprofits for the visually impaired, as well as our future activities in coordinating and hosting future volunteer events.

2014 San Jose Earthquakes vs. LA Galaxy Soccer Game

New Visions of Tomorrow was in charge of one of the concession stands during the sold-out Earthquakes vs. Galaxy game. Volunteers were in charge of preparing and selling food and drinks to the audience, with all proceeds going to our organization. Our successful fundraising will support nonprofits for the visually impaired, as well as our future activities in coordinating and hosting future volunteer events.

2014 Sense-ation Science Event

New Visions of Tomorrow held a science event for the visually impaired at Collins Elementary in Cupertino. Some of the featured activities included presentation of extraterrestrial samples and hands-on observation. Additionally, kids conducted chemistry experiments involving freezing point depression, and a guest 12-year-old boy who invented and built a low-cost Braille printer from Legos (the Braigo) for donation to schools.

2014 Santa Cruz Surfing Event

New Visions of Tomorrow held a surfing event at Cowell Beach in Santa Cruz. We partnered with the Ride a Wave organization, whose mission is to provide children with special needs with beach and surf experience, to teach visually impaired kids to surf. 

2014 Gunn Blind Awareness Event

The Henry M. Gunn High chapter branch hosted a blind awareness event at the school to promote awareness and introduce more students to the possibility of joining New Visions of Tomorrow. Students were blindfolded and asked to assemble and consume sandwiches without the use of their sight, and the fastest 3 finishers were awarded gift card prizes.

2014 Stanford's Cardinal & White Spring Game Fundraiser

New Visions of Tomorrow was in charge in one of the concession stands during Stanford's annual free Cardinal & White spring game. Volunteers were in charge of preparing and selling food and drinks to the audience (Stanford Stadium Express), with all proceeds going to our organization. Our successful fundraising will support nonprofits for the visually impaired, as well as our future activities in coordinating and hosting future volunteer events.

2014 San Jose Tech Museum Interactive Trip

New Visions of Tomorrow coordinated an interactive trip to the latest exhibits at the San Jose Tech Museum this February! Over 60 blind and visually impaired individuals and their family members visited, and were able to choose between a variety of activities, including building robots and touring the Star Wars movie props (special exhibit).

2014 President's Volunteer Service Award Recognition Ceremony

New Visions of Tomorrow thanks every member for their contributions to our organization during this past year of formation. We are proud to recognize a total of nine members as recipients of the 2013 President's Volunteer Service Award:

2013 Winter Skating Event

New Visions of Tomorrow coordinated the annual winter ice skating event alongside Vista Center this year at the Winter Lodge (Palo Alto). Over 30 NVoT members were on hand to make sure that visually impaired youth had companions and received guidance as they skated. Additionally, volunteers on hand helped to serve food and guide skaters to different areas of the skating arena. More guests were present than ever before, with the total count reaching above 130 people. 

2013 Stanford vs. Notre Dame Football Fundraiser

New Visions of Tomorrow participated in the last Stanford concessions stands of this year during the football game against Notre Dame University. Audience members watching the game were in for some great food during the nail-biting game. Volunteers were in charge of preparing and selling food and drinks to the audience (Stanford Stadium Express), with all proceeds going to our organization. Our successful fundraising will support nonprofits for the visually impaired, as well as our future activities in coordinating and hosting future volunteer events.

2013 FLL Qualifier Promotion Fundraiser

New Visions of Tomorrow managed a booth at the 2013 FLL Robotics Qualifier in Los Altos' Blach Middle School to further spread our mission; volunteers also helped to sell food and drinks to bystanders to raise awareness of our cause. The proceeds will our future activities in coordinating and hosting future volunteer events.

Audience members watching the game were in for some great food during the nail-biting game. Volunteers were in charge of preparing and selling food and drinks (Cardinal Barbeque Stand) to the audience, with all proceeds going to our organization. Our successful fundraising will support nonprofits for the visually impaired, as well as our future activities in coordinating and hosting future volunteer events.

2013 Stanford vs. Washington Football Fundraiser

New Visions of Tomorrow participated in Stanford concessions stands  during the home game against Washington University. Volunteers were in charge of preparing and selling food and drinks (Vienna Hot Dogs and Be Well food stands) to the audience, with all proceeds going to our organization. Our successful fundraising will support nonprofits for the visually impaired, as well as our future activities in coordinating and hosting future volunteer events.

2013 Low Vision Expo

NVoT participated in helping out at the Low Vision Expo in Santa Cruz (Louden Nelson Community Center) to explain to visually impaired clients about the newest technology and medical developments available to blind people. Guest speakers included Dr. Alok Bansal, M.D., as well as Damian Pickering and Ed Wikdall, who presented new treatments for diseases such as ARMD and diabetic retinopathy. Furthermore, attendees were able to browse through an expo hall featuring local companies, shops, and individuals selling products specially geared towards aiding the visually impaired in their daily life, including magnifying computers, canes, phones, pill containers, etc. Exhibitors included A&E Low Vision, Access Ingenuity, HumanWare, and Vista Center stores.

2013 Exploratorium Museum Visit

NVoT volunteers took a trip to the Exploratorium Museum in San Francisco with Vista Center's youth group, including blind and visually impaired members. The youth had a chance to explore and experience the creative aspects of science, and shared a lunch with NVoT and Vista Center, who coordinated the event.
